Project Okhati is an initiative to utilize information technology infrastructure to leverage healthcare services in Nepal.
The goal of Okhati is to promote, facilitate and improve existing healthcare services through the use of information technology, by creating a network of healthcare professionals, documenting their medical knowledge and expertise on a publicly available Internet resource and making it accessible to the general public. The initiative is currently focussed on healthcare services in Nepal. However, Okhati welcomes any kind of collaboration in expanding similar projects in other parts of the world.
Okhati currently has the following start-up projects:
Connect – Okhati Connect is a social networking platform for the heatlh professionals. It hopes to bring health professionals around the world in one common platform for interacting over topics of common interest. It is expected that this will give health professionals from different parts of the world, that have limited access to the latest medical technologies and resources, an opportunity to have virtual access to these resources.
Wiki – Okhati Wiki is a platform for documentation of medical knowledge. Health professionals are encouraged to document their knowledge and expertise through this platform so that it can be accessible to professionals in various parts of the world.
